CuliMo

Monitoring of mosquitoes in Germany to analyze distribution and seasonal dynamics – a foundation for research and control strategies.

CuliMo

CuliMo (CulicidenMonitoring): In this project, the phenology and abundance of native and exotic mosquito species across Germany were recorded through a spatial monitoring approach.

Germany was geographically divided into seven regions, each equipped with BG-Sentinel traps placed in 50×50 km grids over three vegetation periods and sampled every two weeks. The IfD/GFS was responsible for the southwest region of Germany. Some of the results have also been included in the 2025 Springer publication “Mosquitoes of Germany.” The project was funded by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL).
